  1. Make sure you test and vaccinate your animals  
    You should always adopt. However, before you introduce your animals to other animals, or children, you should get them fully tested. We adopted a kitten from Mile Hi in June and found out that she had Feline Leukemia in November and had to put her to sleep. It was heart breaking. She had had all of her shots and boosters and was only indoors so we can only think she had it from birth from her mother. I don't know that the shelter could have done anything differently, and I'm not sure we still wouldn't have adopted our beautiful kitten. I think if we had known we could have been more vigilant in watching her health and take steps earlier to help her before it was too late./P ... (A, 12/07/07)
